What the site offers

The site publishes guides about home solar panels and batteries in the UK, and offers a free calculator that estimates the output, self-use and savings of a home solar system. Both are free to use.

You can also ask us for quotes, through the quote form or when you open your full results in the calculator, which asks for your contact details first. We look for MCS-certified installers for your home; when we match you with one, we share your details with that installer and email you. We don't promise that we will find an installer, or how many quotes you will get or when. Asking for quotes costs you nothing, and you don't have to accept any quote. A contract for an installation is between you and the installer you choose; we are not a party to it, and we don't install systems or sell equipment.

We currently receive no payment from installers, or from anyone else, for quote requests. If that changes, we will say so on the quote form and in these terms before it applies to your request.

Calculator estimates

The calculator gives an illustrative estimate based on the information you enter, sunshine data for your location and the assumptions shown with your results, such as electricity prices and export rates. It is not a quote, an offer or a guarantee. The real price, system design and output are set by the installer you choose, after a survey of your roof and electrics, and your installer's MCS performance estimate and quote may differ from ours. Your results depend on your roof, shading, electricity use and tariff.

Our guides are information, not advice

Our guides are written to help you understand and compare, with sources and dates. Rules, schemes, tariffs and prices change. Nothing on the site is personal financial, legal, tax or technical advice, and using the site does not create an advice relationship between you and us. For decisions about your own home, speak to a qualified professional, such as an MCS-certified installer, an electrician or a financial adviser.

Using the site properly

Please enter accurate information in the calculator and the quote form, and don't use them for someone else's address without their permission. Only send a quote request with your own contact details. Don't try to disrupt the site, access it by automated means that put a load on it, or copy its content in bulk.

Intellectual property

The text, images and tools on the site belong to Kind Services or to their respective owners. You may read them and share links to them. Beyond what copyright law allows, such as fair quotation with an acknowledgement, please don't copy or reuse them without our permission.

Our responsibility to you

We work to keep the site accurate and available, but we cannot guarantee that it is always free of errors or interruptions. If we fail to take reasonable care with the site's content or the calculator, we are responsible for loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result. The calculator gives illustrative estimates, not quotes (see "Calculator estimates"), so before you decide to buy, get a survey and a written quote from an installer. We are not responsible for loss that happens because you relied on our estimate instead of an installer's survey and quote, or for loss we could not have foreseen. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

The site links to sources and to other websites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content.

We may update these terms. The version that applies is the one published on this page, with the date at the top. Changes apply from the date shown and don't affect anything that happened before.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your local law and you can bring a claim in your local courts. If you live in England or Wales, you can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales.
